The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham seeded BEF with a grant of $256,000 from a component fund, the Birmingham City Schools Education Fund, created with a gift from the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Foundation in 2002.
“We know the power of a shared vision and pooled gifts to create transformational change,” said Karen Rolen, Vice President Community Investment for the Community Foundation and a BEF board member. “We believe this grant will inspire others who want to support what our community wants for its schools.”
