ED’S REPORT CARD GOALS (by Strand)

Each strand is interwoven and as a whole supports the ultimate goal of every student graduating, prepared to enter the workforce or college.

• Increase cohort graduation rate from 65% to 70% by 2013, and then to 80% by 2016.

Strand 1: Parental Involvement

  • Parent participation and attendance will increase 15% annually.
  • 80% of parent ratings of activities will be GOOD or EXCELLENT.

Strand 2: College and Career Focused High Schools
By 2016, 100% of graduates will be college or career ready as measured by numbers achieving:

  • Completion of the Alabama High School Diploma with either a Standard or Advanced Academic Endorsement or
    Career/Technical Endorsement,
  • Enrollment in industry training or apprenticeship program,
  • Military enlistment, or
  • Employment.

Strand 3: Professional Development for School Leaders

  • By 2012, 100% of BCS schools will have implemented the Professional Learning Communities model.
  • By 2014, 100% of BCS schools will have met their Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals.

Strand 4: Pre Advanced Placement Initiative

  • By 2015, the BCS pass rate on AP exams will equal the national average (currently 58.5%).
  • By 2016, the average ACT composite score of BCS seniors will be raised to 20 (currently 16.7%).
